One of the most important artists of the 20th century was our neighbor. He walked among us. He lived among us. He was not born here, but he became a man and a professional musician here. We celebrate his birthday next month. September 23rd, 2016. He would have been 90 years old.
His name was John William Coltrane.

Tropical Storm Hermine has been upgraded to a Hurricane by the National Weather Service with maximum sustained winds now exceeding 75mph. It will make landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast tonight or tomorrow morning as it continues to head northeast. Five people have been charged in yesterday's shootings on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. One person was killed and four people were injured. The shootout happened on the eastbound Expressway near the Garden State Parkway around 3pm. Shots were fired between multiple vehicles. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams' girlfriend has been charged with slashing the tires of two vehicles outside of his home last year. 47-year-old Stacey Cummings is charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and possession of an instrument of crime. It happened on November 11, 2015 outside of Williams' Overbrook home. The Philadelphia Soul led the Arizona Rattlers wire-to-wire in the Arena Football League championship game on Friday night beating the home team 56-42 at Gila River Arena. Philly jumped out to the early 21-0 lead in the first quarter and held the odds-on favorites at bay for the rest of the game. The Rattlers may have had the league MVP Nick Davila and coach of the year Kevin Guy, but they were no match for Philly's QB Dan Raudabaugh and a stifling defense that created turnovers.

An Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old girl from Nescopeck Borough, Luzerne County has been canceled. The girl and father have been found safe in New York City. The Pennsylvania State Police issed the alert this morning for the toddler, Ava Byrne, who had been taken by her father, 24-year-old Robert Byrne. He was driving a 2004 Silver Hyundai Elantra.
