St. Joseph University has purchased the Cardinal's mansion from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for $10 million. The 13,000 sq-ft house has 16 rooms, a gardener's cottage, 6 car garage, and sits on 8.9 acres along City Ave. Archbishop Charles Chaput announced he'd sell the large house last January and will live in an apartment at St. Charles Seminary.   by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards tonight were moved back an hour so that everyone could switch over and watch President Obama's Democratic National Convention speech. I wonder how many people actually made the switch, or just stayed on to watch the immediate replay of the awards. It's been years since MTV actually participated deeply in political coverage and voter activism on air. Harken back to the 1992 election and the 'Choose or Lose' program, especially the landmark question and answer... Read More

A US Airways flight bound for Dallas, TX was diverted back to Philadelphia International Airport this morning after a telephone tip was received by police that a passenger on the plane may have explosives. That call was later deemed a hoax, but not until after the plane returned to Philadelphia and SWAT stormed the passenger cabin. The unidentified target was led off in handcuffs and told to kneel on the tarmac while bomb-sniffing dogs searched his belongings and the plane. He was then led off... Read More

The Kimmel Center opened it's renovated Dorrance Hamilton Rooftop Garden today. The 6,200 sq-ft space sits atop the Perelman Theater. The glass encased hall underwent $6 million in renovations to make it usable throughout the year. During the months from May-October it would just become too hot high up in the atrium, and event noise from the 200 person private room would leak out into the performance halls below. They have now installed triple-paned sound proof glass around the sides and... Read More

Sunday broke on the Parkway to cloudy skies and intermittent rain showers, but that didn't damper the spirits of the fans who were ready to tackle the second day of the Made in America Festival. Today's lineup, much like yesterday's, featured an assortment of Hip Hop, Rock, R&B, and DJ acts both young and old. Here is what I was able to catch.

Philadelphia native Santigold put on a dazzling set on the Rocky Stage. Her style is hard to categorize since her influences are as broad... Read More
