Two CSX freight trains collided this morning in Chester, Delaware County. It happened at 8:25 a.m. at a track interlocking between Kerlin Street and Concord Road. The two trains hit head-on. One was traveling from Richmond, Virginia to Pavonia, New Jersey with three locomotives and 64 empty freight cars. The other was traveling from Quebec, Canada to Atlanta, Georgia, with one locomotive and eight intermodal cars carrying consumer goods and food products. Each train had two crew members... A settlement has been reached in the fatal Amtrak 188 crash in Port Richmond last year. Amtrak has agreed to payout a record $265 million to victims and their families. The settlement was approved by a judge today. The crash happened in May of 2015. The train was going 106 mph in a 50 mph zone around a curve at Frankford Junction when it derailed. 8 people were killed and over 200 were injured. Philadelphia Police have identified the man wanted in connection with the theft and destruction of the front staircase of the Union League in Center City. An arrest warrant has been issued for 50-year-old Reginald Phillips, whose last known address was on the 3100 block of N. Broad Street. Police have identified the teenager arrested for shooting a Good Samaritan in Rittenhouse Square last week. 17-year-old Mehdi Fraiji of the Graduate Hospital neighborhood turned himself into Central Detectives at 4 a.m. on Saturday. He is charged as an adult with Attempted Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, and related offenses. Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane was sentenced today to 10 to 23 months in jail with 8 years probation. Witnesses for both the prosecution and the defense testified Monday at the courthouse in Norristown, Montgomery County. Kane tearfully asked for leniency, hoping to receive probation or house arrest so she could take care of her two sons ages 14 and 15. The north side stone staircase leading to the entrance of the iconic Union League in Philadelphia was heavily damaged overnight by a vandal. Surveillance tapes show a man tugging at the brass hand rail at around 3 a.m. When he pulled the railing free, the rest of the curved stone railing came crumbling down. The search for a missing Bucks County woman resumed this morning after she has been missing for over 6 weeks. 21-year-old Lindsey Piccone was last seen in Bensalem on September 6th. Her abandoned car was found at Tyler State Park. She did not have her cell phone or her two dogs with her. Searches of the park were made in the days following her disappearance.
