Mayor Nutter announced aggressive new plans to crack down on those who scoff at paying their property taxes in Philadelphia. Two weeks from now property owners will receive updated assessments that will be used to pay taxes in 2014. He recognized that some people have a hard time paying their taxes sometimes, but the real problem lies in those that can pay but don't. A Philadelphia-area chartered bus headed home to Bristol, PA carrying 42 passengers struck a bridge overpass in Boston and injured 34 people, 3 of them seriously. Former Philadelphia School District Superintendent Arlene Ackerman has passed away at the age of 66. Her son, Anthony Antognoli, said she died this morning around 5 a.m. in Albuquerque, NM after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She took over the school district in June 2008 and left in August 2011 amid controversy and conflict with local officials. There was an explosion earlier this evening on a train overpass at 30th and Cecil B Moore in Brewerytown. The explosion caused the Chestnut Hill West and Trenton Regional Rail lines to shut down for 37 minutes from 6 to 6:37 p.m. There was no damage to the train tracks, but a small crater was left. Authorities in Lambertville have recovered a body from the icy canal that they believe is missing 39-year-old Sarah Majoras. Majoras has been missing since Saturday at 2 a.m. when she left John and Peter's bar in New Hope, PA and walked across the bridge over the Delaware river towards her home in New Jersey. Divers, cameras, and sonar have been searching the canal all day today which is frozen over in many spots.

A man was detained this morning after threatening to blow up the Liberty Bell. Park rangers stopped the unidentified male and told them he wanted to blow up the landmark and his two backpacks contained explosives. Police arrived on the scene at 10:45 am and blocked off Market Street between 7th and 8th Streets. The Philadelphia Bomb Squad arrived shortly after to examine the backpacks.
