Fifteen years ago today, on February 24, 2005, Philadelphia's alternative radio station Y100 (WPLY FM) 100.3 FM was taken off the air by its owner Radio One. On that same day, Y100 program director Jim McGuinn and promotions director Josh T. Landow launched the website Y100Rocks.com as a petition to bring the station back to the airwaves and as an online streaming radio station. A memorial for Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the 7 others killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26 will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday, February 24 at 1 pm ET, 10 am PT. A woman was killed and a man was injured in a double shooting at an apartment building in Maple Shade on Sunday afternoon, 2/23. It happened before 2:30 p.m. at The Arbors on South Lenola Road. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office says that police found 22-year-old Kayla Winkler and 24-year-old Ramek Bass outside an apartment on the seventh floor suffering from gunshot wounds. A Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader earned his golden ticket to 'Hollywood' on American Idol on Sunday night, 2/23, by performing 'Mercy' by Shawn Mendes. 21-year-old Kyle Tanguay from Rochester, NH, is a senior dance major at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. This past season he became one of the first male Eagles' cheerleaders in 35 years and one of only a handful currently across the NFL. The Phillie Phanatic made his debut at Spring Training at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, FL, on Sunday afternoon, 2/23, with a few changes to his appearance. He is slightly slimmer than before, which may actually make it easier to navigate the stands. He also has a new pair of sneakers and socks. His feathery eyebrows and tail have also been spruced up. A teenage woman is dead and a man was critically injured, in a quadruple shooting in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon, 2/19, in North Philadelphia.
