Following an incident during Friday's Mummer's parade where a member of the Finnegan New Year Brigade was caught on video yelling homophobic epithets while walking on Broad Street, both Mummers' officials and Mayor-Elect Kenney have condemned the act. The body of a missing autistic boy was found in a canal this afternoon. 5-year-old Jayliel Vega ran from a relative's home during a New Year's Eve party on Thursday evening. He was not wearing a coat, socks, or shoes. A massive search effort was deployed to search the entire neighborhood on the East Side of Allentown. A 75-year-old woman was shot in the face during a robbery as she walked home from the grocery store in Philadelphia's Tacony section today. It happened in broad daylight on the 7100 block of Erdrick Street. The elderly woman was carrying two bags of groceries when she was jumped. The man demanded money and grabbed her. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced today that he would be using his line-item veto to reject parts of a $30.3 billion budget passed by the state legislature last week. He will sign some parts of it into law to provide emergency funding to schools, social services, and county governments who have been operating since June without a budget.
