Philadelphia's 311 call center in City Hall was closed down and employees sent home after a bed bug was discovered inside the room. The center is located in Room 167 on the first floor of City Hall. An employee found the bug on the floor and showed building maintenance. They decided immediately to close the room and fumigate. Employees worked remotely answering questions through social media and e-mail. The center will reopen tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Rosemont College Cuts Tuition 43%; Park in Camden for Papal Visit; Divine Lorraine Groundbreaking

Rosemont College has announced that it will cut tuition by 43% starting next year. The Main Line institution will lower the cost from $32,000 to $18,500. Room and board will also be lowered by $1,900. The liberal arts school wants to be more affordable for more students. Rosemont's president says that the current tuition is artificially high and that the majority of the students receive a discount. Financial aid will also be lower once the tuition is also lowered in 2016.

A 15-year-old South Jersey boy was arrested last month by the FBI for making online threats against Pope Francis and his US visit. The unidentified boy sympathized with ISIS and communicated the desire to plan an attack involving guns and explosives. Sources say that although the teen's threats were real, they did not go beyond online communications and that there were no credible threats that included a specific plan of action. The World Meeting of Families has announced additional entertainment acts for the weekend of the Papal Visit. Actor Mark Wahlberg will serve as host for the evening Festival of Families. "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin, rock band The Fray, and rising star Marie Miller will join previously announced acts Andrea Bocelli, Juanes, and the Philadelphia Orchestra on Saturday night September 26th. Chester police are looking for a driver who struck a motorcycle officer this afternoon and then fled the scene. It happened before 3 p.m. at the intersection of 4th and Morton Streets in Chester. The officer was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center with minor injuries. He was alert and conscious. Authorities are searching for a late 90's or early 2000's burgundy Pontiac, possibly a Grand Prix, with a green hood and/or trunk. The car fled towards Industrial Highway.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced today that they would not extend the contract of Senior Vice President and General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. and that current Assistant GM Scott Proefrock would taken over as Interim GM effective immediately for the remainder of the season. Philadelphia Police have made an arrest is the deadly shooting outside the Theater of the Living Arts on South Street on Friday night. 28-year-old Tylee Wilbur of of North Saint Bernard Street in West Philadelphia has been arrested and charged with murder and firearms offenses. His bail was denied and is currently being held at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. A man is dead after gunfire erupted on South Street outside the Theater of Living Arts before a hip hop concert on Friday night. It happened just after 8 p.m. on the 300 block of South Street. Fans were lined up outside the TLA waiting to head into the Lil Durk concert when a scuffle broke out near the front door. The Philadelphia Eagles traded backup quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals today for a conditional 7th round pick in 2016. The Eagles will get the pick if Barkley remains on the roster for six games. Barkley was in competition with Tim Tebow for a third string quarterback position behind starter Sam Bradford and backup Mark Sanchez.
