A police officer in Cumberland County, South Jersey was treated for minor injuries after someone opened fire on his patrol car on Saturday evening. It happened on the 300 block of East Vine Street in Millville. A round hit both the driver side and passenger side front windows shattering both. The officer was not hit struck by gunfire but was treated for lacerations from the glass. 12 casings were recovered from the scene. Investigators do not think the officer was the target. Thousands of shoppers were evacuated from the Springfield Mall in Delaware County on 'Super Saturday' due to a grease fire at a pizza restaurant inside the mall. It happened after 3 p.m. at the large shopping mall on Baltimore Pike in Springfield in the kitchen of Sbarro's in the food court. Alarms sounded and everyone was forced to the leave the enclosed shopping mall due to smoke. The annual re-enactment of General George Washington's crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas Day 1776 during the American Revolution has been saved this year by a group of Philadelphia students and their handmade boats. The crossing was threatened by low water levels on the river making it impossible for the re-enactment group to use their replica wooden Durham boats to cross from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. Philadelphia Police have arrested and charged a man in the hit-and-run accident yesterday in the city's Crescentville neighborhood that killed an 8-year-old boy. 34-year-old Michael Finn is charged with accident involving death, homicide by vehicle, accident-death-no license, and involuntary manslaughter. The parents of one of the four men killed and buried on a Bucks County farm this summer have filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The suit was filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas against the two cousins, Cosmo DiNardo and Sean Kratz, who are charged with the murders as well as DiNardo's parents, Sandra and Anthony DiNardo. The House of Representatives approved the GOP Tax Bill (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act) on Tuesday by a 227-203 vote and sent it off to the Senate. Before they could call for a vote in the Senate, Democrats found three provisions in the bill that violated Senate budget rules. One provision would allow parents to use college savings accounts to pay for homeschooling of young children. Those provisions were removed before the Senate could vote. The bomb squad responded to the scene of a bank robbery this afternoon in Delaware County after an armed robber left a suspicious device behind following the holdout. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has called on Leach to resign after published reports that he behaved inappropriately with female staffers over the years.
