Tonight's (Oct 18th) full moon will pass through part of the Earth's shadow producing a partial lunar eclipse that should be viewable to most of us in the Philadelphia area. This type of eclipse is called a penumbral lunar eclipse because the moon passes through the Earth's outer shadow called the penumbra. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams announced that the victim in the rape and assault case of Rev. Robert Brennan died unexpectedly over the weekend. The victim, a former alter boy, accused Brennan of molesting him over a period of 3 years starting in 1998. He was 11 years old at the time. Brennan was arrested at his home in Maryland late last month and brought to Philadelphia. He is currently out on bail. Today was supposed to be a preliminary hearing but that was postponed. An... Residents in Northeast Philadelphia discovered vulgar graffiti sprayed on their homes and cars when they woke up this morning. The vandals targeted homes on Hoffnagle Street, Benson Street, Emerson Street and Solly Avenue in the Rhawnhurt section. Police say that they spray painted racial slurs, sexual images, and swastikas on people's homes, fences, and cars. A man charged in the death of a Philadelphia motorcycle police officer last July has decided to plead guilty today. 47-year-old John Leck Jr. of Levittown was about to go to trial for the July 8, 2012 murder of Officer Brian Lorenzo. Leck had been driving the wrong way on I-95 when he struck and killed Lorenzo who was on his motorcycle and in uniform after his shift. The body of a woman found fatally shot in Riverton, NJ, early Sunday morning has been identified. 22-year-old Te'Aira Denise Earvin of Youngstown, Ohio was discovered on Carriage House Lane, between Lippincott and Thomas avenues at 5:20 am. She had been shot twice and pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner has declared this a homicide. The investigation is underway and no arrests are underway. A top Pennsylvania state senator thinks it is time that we increase the maximum speed limit on highways from 65 to 70 miles per hour. Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati said that he plans to introduce legislature that will allow for the higher speeds. He says the higher speed limits would allow traffic to flow easier and the delivery of goods to be more efficient. 34 other states allow at least 70 mph and 16 of those allow 75 mph. Philadelphia Police have identified a suspect in an assault of a blind man last week that was caught on tape. Police are looking for 29-year-old Mustafa Guyton. The incident occurred on October 2nd at 12:06 pm. The camera shows the suspect standing on the northeast corner of Wayne Avenue and Seymour Street in Southwest Germantown. A Lancaster County man was convicted today for beating his wife for not addressing him as "sir" in front of their children. Prosecutors said that 49-year-old Dan Kirby Kopp of Ephrata would beat his wife with a wooden paddle when he thought she wasn't being respectful. He'd take her over his knee and spank her. The wife used her iPhone to record a September 2012 episode showing the 6'5", 230 lb man hitting her with the paddle for not saying "Yes, sir." Kopp was convicted of misdemeanor... Read More

The Philadelphia Phillies announced today the return of Larry Bowa and Pete Mackanin to the coaching staff. This will be Bowa's fourth different stint with the Phillies franchise over his career. Bowa, a Hall of Fame player, played shortstop for the Phils from 1970-1981, was third base coach from 1988-1996, and was club manager from 2001-2004.
