Fallen Delaware Department of Corrections Officer Sgt. Steven Floyd was posthumously elevated to the rank of lieutenant and was awarded the medal of valor on Friday afternoon. Floyd was taken hostage with three others on Wednesday by inmates at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna. He did not survive the ordeal. Philadelphia police have made an arrest in the 2015 murder of a Port Richmond woman. 28-year-old James Jones is charged with criminal homicide, burglary, robbery and a list of related offenses. It happened on July 30, 2015 on the 3000 block of Aramingo Ave. Police found 22-year-old Stephanie Dzikowski shot to death in a second floor bedroom. Her 2-year-old daughter was in the room with her. A nearly 20-hour hostage situation at a Delaware state prison ended early this morning when authorities used a backhoe to breach the building. One of the remaining hostages, 47-year-old Sgt. Steven Floyd, was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital. The other remaining hostage, a female counselor, was rescued unharmed. Undercover narcotics officers stopped the abduction of a 25-year-old woman on Tuesday night in Philadelphia's Olde Richmond neighborhood. Local family members of three families that were denied entry to the United States at Philadelphia International Airport on Saturday are filing lawsuits against the Trump administration. They appeared at City Hall today along with Mayor Jim Kenney and the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania. Two of the families were from Syria and one individual was from Iran. The Boys Scouts of American announced Monday that it will allow transgender children who identify as boys to enroll in its boys' only programs. The organization made the decision to base enrollment on the gender a parent or child lists on the application to become a scout.
