The Flyers have won the Atlantic Division for the first time in seven years, and are the second seed in the East going into the playoffs after today's 7-4 win over the Islanders to close out the season. They'll meet the Buffalo Sabres in the first round starting Thursday.

We should be cheering and anxiously awaiting another great playoff run from the Flyboys like last year's miracle round after round to the Stanley Cup Finals. However, last year was a surprise treat by an... Read More

The wait is over, the anticipation can finally burst, Phillies season is here. This season is probably the most anticipated season of our recent golden age of Phillies baseball, and for once it's not because of our All-Star lineup of batters, but because of... Pitching! A fully stacked deck of starting pitchers ready to deal joker hands to all other teams, at least that's what we all hope. All of this will end in the fall with the realization of our expectations and October baseball and a World... Read More

Dave Matthews Band had announced last year that they planned on taking this next summer off from touring. They've hit the roads constantly since the early 90's and needed a break. However, today they've announced their own fairly ambitious travelling summer festival. It'll happen 4 times in four different places, yet to be determined. March Madness is in full swing, and the tournament field is now set with two Big 5 teams securing spots in the bracket. Villanova made it despite their horrific 6 game slide to end their season. They'll play Friday as a 9 seed against 8 seed George Mason in the East Region. In the West Region, Temple will play on Thursday as a 7 seed in an interesting match up... against 10 seed Penn State, who hasn't been in the tournament since losing in the sweet 16 to Temple 10 years ago. Penn State had... Read More

Was BYU Brandon Davies suspended for what he did or for breaking the honor code?

  by: iradioal - Philadelphia, PA
started: 03/04/11 9:24 am | updated: 03/04/11 9:24 am

Many are talking about the recent suspension of BYU basketball player Brandon Davies for violating the school's honor code. Some may question the content and strictness of the code which forbids seemingly commonplace college activities such as sex or alcohol, even coffee. However, the real story could just be that Davies violated a code that every BYU student is very well aware of, having had two interviews during the admission process, one with a bishop, and having to resign the Honor Code... Kadafi, Quaddafi. Muammar, Moamar? As difficult as it is to follow the changing political landscape amid the unrest and revolution in the Arab world, it doesn't help when one man can have so many spellings to his name. But for the controversial leader of Libya, transations from Arabic to Roman letterings have led to over 112 different combinations. Here is a list:

Qaddafi, Muammar
Al-Gathafi, Muammar
al-Qadhafi, Muammar
Al Qathafi, Mu'ammar

A Central Bucks English teacher has been suspended pending investigation after a parent complained about her blog postings where she complained about her students. She used comments such as, "Frightfully dim," "Rat-like," "Seems smarter than she actually is." to describe some of her students. She also wished she could add "lazy", "sneaky" and "rude" to the canned report card comments teachers can choose from. She never named specfic students. Her blog has since been taken down.

And the Grammy goes to ...

Tonight's big winners are country crossover stars Lady Antebellum, powered by their song "Need You Now". They took home 5 little record player statues, including both Song and Record of the Year. Somehow they got to perform that song 2 years in a row on the show. Arguably, last year's performance launched them on the road to success this past year.

Other big winners include Philly's own The Roots, whose collaborative work with John Legend earned 3 awards in R&B categories. The... Read More
