Next Monday, July 16th, arguably one of the best indie rock club tours of the summer will be in town playing Union Transfer. The double bill of Best Coast and Those Darlins both harken back to a different time and a different place, that you just can't put your finger, it's just not here and not now. A new Basketball league is forming along the east coast with plans for a Philadelphia franchise. The Basketball Alumni Legends Legaue or BALL will kick off next July 2013, but will have a special preview this August 4 and 5 with a Philly vs DC home and home matchup. The United States Olympic Basketball Team was announced on Saturday night by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo. The 12-man roster was selected after Olympic Team training sessions held in Las Vegas. Three final spots opened up after injuries in recent months to at least four top American players. Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all have had injuries that forced them to withdraw from consideration.

Seven people have been injured after a train accident along the SEPTA Norristown High Speed Line (previously known as the R100 and P&W) in Haverford Friday Night. At around 7:45, a rear car became briefly detached from the one in front of it. The cars then slammed back together and reattached, jolting the train. Coldplay performed another sold out show at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday July 6th on their Mylo Xyloto Tour. They brought the house down again just as they did last night.
Wolfgang opened the show and they were followed by Swedish pop artist Robyn. Robyn played a packed surprise after party last night at club Voyeur into the late night.

Philadelphia Police have identified the shooting suspect from last night's gun fire that broke out during the Welcome America concert and fireworks on the Parkway. 16-year-old Nafis Scott of Germantown was arrested and taken into custody.

Msgr. William J. Lynn learned his fate today regarding his bail request pending sentencing. Judge Sarmina sided with Philadelphia prosecutors, who said that Lynn was a flight risk, especially if he left the country to Vatican City which has no extradition treaty. Lynn was requesting to be granted bail and house arrest before his sentencing hearing August 13th on his conviction of child endangerment.
