started: 07/23/14 2:24 pm | updated: 07/23/14 2:24 pm
The Vulcans are a roots/americana group out of Mechanicsburg, PA. Semaphore is their 2nd album and follows 2011's Shadows. I have been interested in Vulcans since I saw them at The World Cafe as winners of the Philadelphia Songwriters Project. I also saw them perform at a local Mall and was struck by the clean and pure nature of the vocals and harmonies. Their voices are like a hand and glove... seamless. The Vulcans have been gathering steam by performing at Firefly and now at... Read More

The Sheraton in Center City was evacuated early this morning because of smoke in the basement. About 4am the fire department was called to the scene and about 1,000 people had to get out of bed and onto the streets outside the 26 story hotel. The origin of the smoke was an electrical panel in the HVAC system. After about 4 hours outside, guests were allowed to return to their rooms.

Mayor Nutter still has not signed into law the measure that overwhelmingly passed on June 19th... Read More
