iradiophilly Executive Director Alvin Clay IV was presented with a citation from Philadelphia City Council signed by Councilmember-at-Large David Oh and Council President Darrell Clarke on December 20, 2022, at World Cafe Live during the final award show for PHL Live Center Stage. The award recognizes Mr. Clay's contributions to Philadelphia's music and entertainment scenes as a whole and specifically to his work and support of PHL Live Center Stage. (see text of citation below).

PHL Live has been conducted annually 7-times since 2014 (*2-year hiatus). Each year, 10 different genre showcases are held at venues around the city. Winners are announced at a final awards show. A kick off party was also held some years before submissions are open. Alvin has been on hand to live broadcast every PHL Live event (around 80) since the inception.

PHL Live is a music initiative created by David Oh, Chairman of the Committee on Global Opportunities and the Creative/Innovative Economy. Oh recognized an opportunity to engage the entire music scene and help promote up-and-coming artists and the creative economy. Artists across multiple genres (Jazz, Country/Folk, Rock, Pop/Dance, Hip Hop, World, R&B, DJ, Gospel, Classical) get the opportunity to perform at top local venues for a chance to win cash prizes, studio time, performance opportunities, and more. The music festival/talent competition supports local talent and helps them gain exposure, but it also brings together many facets of the Philadelphia music community. Recording studios, music venues, media outlets, promotions, service providers, etc. are all working together. By supporting artists and by growing cohesion between the different facets of the music scene, the music industry here in Philadelphia can keep the great talent here in the city.
