Philadelphia city officials announced on Thursday, 7/16, that they are postponing plans to close a protest homeless encampment near 22nd Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Philadelphia Police believe that a pregnant woman who was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon, 7/16, was not the intended target, but that the shooter was looking to hit her boyfriend. It happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 2500 block of West Berks Street. 25-year-old Shaliyah Davis was shot in the head while sitting in an SUV. The Lehigh County District Attorney's office will not be filing charges against Allentown Police officers seen in a viral video arresting a man outside of St. Luke's Sacred Heart Hospital last weekend. District Attorney James Martin said that after a thorough review, the officer placed his knee on the man's head, not his neck. A 25-year-old pregnant woman has died after being shot in the face in Strawberry Mansion on Thursday afternoon, 7/16. It happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 2500 block of West Berks Street. The woman was sitting in an SUV after having just visited a relative. The shooter opened up the door and fired once inside, hitting her in the head. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced a roll back on restrictions in the wake of a recent rise in coronavirus COVID-19 infections. The statewide mitigation efforts will affect bars, restaurants, night clubs, gyms, catered events, and other gatherings. Bars and nightclubs must shut down again, unless they also offer sit down dining. They can continue take-out alcohol sales if licensed. Restaurants must limit capacity to 25% (down from 50%).
