Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney 'respectfully declined' an invitation to brunch and have conversation with protestors at the encampment along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Monday morning, 9/14. Last week, the city's 'third and final' notice of eviction deadline came and passed without much movement on either side. Protestors invited Mayor Kenney to come to the camps to talk. A man was shot and killed by police in Lancaster, PA, on Sunday afternoon, 9/13, while chasing after the officer with a knife. The Lancaster County District Attorney's office has released police body camera footage of the incident (see below). 27-year-old Ricardo Munoz was pronounced dead at the scene. Police in Chester County believe that a man struck and seriously injured on the Route 30 bypass is to blame for the crash because of case of road rage. It happened around 3 p.m. Thursday, 9/10, on the eastbound lanes of the Route 30 bypass near South Whitford Road in West Whiteland Township. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley announced on Thursday, 9/10, that indoor dining in the city will remain at 25% capacity for the time being. The Philadelphia Bomb Squad was on the scene after an explosion on the front porch of a home in West Philadelphia early Sunday morning, 9/6. It happened around 3:45 a.m. on the 200 block of South 62nd Street. Someone threw an explosive device onto the porch of the home. The front windows of that home and the next door home were shattered. Police believe it was a 'M-series' device. No one was home at the time and no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing.

A senior football player at La Salle College High School collapsed and died after practice on Friday afternoon, 9/4, at the all-boys Catholic Wyndmoor, Montgomery County school. 17-year-old Isaiah Turner was a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive guard who also played on the basketball team. He has been described as a "gentle giant" who was loved by all at the school. Turner was from the Frankford section of Philadelphia.
