Long Beach Island Beaches Reopen; Rodney King, 47, found dead

Long Beach Island has reopened 9 miles of beaches from Ship Bottom to Barnegat Light today after they were shutdown on Saturday. Trash, debris, eel grass, and medical waste had washed ashore along that stretch. Township employees worked Saturday and early Sunday to clear the beaches and they were reopened this morning at 9:15 am. They'll continue to monitor the situation.

DRPA Changes Rules for Senior Discount; Head of PHA leaves Unexpectedly; Phils Lose, Lee winless

The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) has changed the rules regarding the 50% senior discount on it's 4 area bridges. DRPA operates the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross, and Commodore Barry Bridges over the Delaware River. Senior Citizens 65 and older who want the discount must now send DRPA a copy of their driver's license and vehicle registration along with their E-ZPass transponder number. He will take his role as the 70th president of the USCM this weekend at their annual gathering is Orlando. This will mean even more appearances on national news and political shows as they seek his opinions as the spokesperson for the the big city mayor. Daredevil Nik Wallenda became the first person to walk on a tightrope over and across Niagara Falls. His 1,800 ft journey took him over the brink of the falls and through the mist and fog. There have been other wire crossings before, but none over the falls and not since 1896.

Late Wednesday night at Club W.I.P. in SoHo in Manhattan Chris Brown and Drake ignited a bar brawl that sent bottles and ice flying, leaving the club a mess with broken glass and several people bloody, including an innocent bystander (a tourist from Australia).

The courts have spoken, Peter Nero will be at the conductor's stand for this year's Philly Pops performance at Independence Hall July 3rd. Carbon Monoxide in Darby, Angry Birds and Eagles, Two Malnourished Horses in North Philly

A carbon monoxide leak forced evacuations in Darby Township early this afternoon. A two-alarm underground transformer fire prompted officials to evacuate buildings on the 800 block of Main Street. The block is a mix of residential and commercial buildings including a nursing home. PECO officials were at the scene. It was initially believed overheated underground cables were causing the deadly gas levels. No injuries are reported.

Suspect Identified in P.Y.T. shooting in Northern Liberties late Sunday night

Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect in connection with the shooting that killed 25-year-old Maurice Kimble from Upper Darby outside the PYT restaurant in Northern Liberties Sunday night.

Authorities are looking for Steven Miller, 22, of Philadelphia. He’s described as a black male, 6-feet-tall, about 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes and has a tattoo on his left forearm.
