After Thursday's report that implicated Paterno as well as other high ranking Penn State officers including former University President Graham Spanier in covering up aspects of Jerry Sandusky's child sex abuse case, Pilato felt he had to remove the halo from the painting. US District Judge William H. Yohn sees no difference between feeding the homeless outside at City Hall or outside in city parks along the Parkway, or that it is better or any more dignified on the concrete compared to the grass. He will be extending his temporary injunction against the enforcement of Mayor Nutter's city law banning outdoor feeding of groups larger than three for at least a year. This should give the city and various religious and secular groups plenty of time to come up with a... Read More |

The license up for bidding is the same one that was revoked from Foxwoods casino a year and a half ago. A bill that would have opened up statewide competition for that license passed the House but never was taken up in the Senate. The current law still provisions two licenses for Philadelphia. Since the law does not seem like it will change the... Read More |

Mayor Nutter told a federal judge this morning that his ban on public feeding of homeless people in the city parks is part of his plan to end city homelessness. It is not a reaction to pressure from cultural groups along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The ban is being challenged on constitutional grounds from various religious groups who feed the homeless outside in city parks. They say it interferes with their free exercise of religion. Nutter says the outdoor feeding does not address the... Read More |
