A woman is in custody after a violent police chase and crash in Port Richmond on Thursday evening. It started around 9:15 p.m. near E and Clearfield streets in Kensington. Philadelphia Police attempted to pull over a Jeep that was reported stolen. The suspect tried to ram a police vehicle and run over a police officer. Police opened fire on the car. All Philadelphia public schools as well as Archdiocesan High schools and grade schools in Philadelphia have annouced early dismissals for Friday due to the excessive heat. Schools will close at Noon. Temperatures are expected to reach 94 degrees which would tie the record set in 1884, but the heat index will make it feel more like 100. After school activities will also be cancelled. Suburban schools in the Archdiocese will make their own individual decisions.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band took over Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia for Night 1 of a two night stand during The River Tour 2016. The band played a marathon 4 hour and 4 minute set, which is a Bruce Springsteen's US Concert record. Philadelphia Police have arrested and charged a man with murder who allegedly ran over a woman multiple times and then beat her with a shovel. 50-year-old Joel Horton is charged in the death of 52-year-old Adrienne Lindsay. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday September 4th in the 700 block of West Louden Street in the Logan section. Horton repeated ran over Lindsay in his Nissan Maxima. Post-Tropical Cyclone Hermine has tracked further east than expected, reducing some of the threats to our region. The storm still could intensify and move back west but not enough to cause significant impact. The rain from this system will stay well off shore. There are Tropical Storm warnings for Delaware and New Jersey coastal areas as they are expected to take the brunt of the storm. The Philadelphia Eagles have traded starting quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a first-round pick in 2017 and an additional pick in 2018. Bradford was acquired by the Eagles in a trade two years ago that sent Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams.
