Archdiocese Cuts Catholic Standard and More Jobs, Sandusky's Son Allegations, Heat Damaged Roads |

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia will end publication of the Catholic Standard and Times and suspend Phaith Magazine. These and more cuts are an effort to reduce a projected deficit exceeding $17 million. The Archdiocesan Pastoral Center will reduce staff by 45 positions, consolidating 19 offices. There will also be no raises for the remaining staff next year.

The jury in the Philadelphia Clergy Abuse case is gridlocked. The jury reports being hung on 4 of 5 charges. That’s all but one of the counts. Judge Teresa Sarmina is urging the jurors to continue deliberations and try to come to agreement on all counts when they resume on Friday.

Tonight Kenny Chesney hits the beach in Wildwood. Country music giant Chesney will perform a free concert for about 20,000 people. If you weren't lucky enough to get one of the free general admissions tickets, you can watch the concert on YouTube at 8:30. For those of you heading to the Schellenger Avenue beach for the live show, "No shoes, no shirt, no problem."

The first day of Summer is Wednesday and with it the first of three days of scorching weather. Excessive heat warnings are in effect for the region where temperatures will climb from the mid-eighties to near 100 degrees by Friday. The Jerry Sandusky defense begins this week with his legal team claiming that the accused child molester suffers from "histrionic personality disorder." They'll call an expert to testify that some of the evidence against him could be attributed to the disorder rather than criminal intent.

Prosecutors in the Jerry Sandusky trial closed their case yesterday. Jurors heard testimony of sexual assault, groping, sodomy and rape from several victims, now in their 20's. On Monday, Sandusky's defense will get its chance to submit evidence. It is still not known whether Sandusky himself will take the stand.

There is a massive search underway for a missing boy in Gloucester County. Seven Year old Malakai Stewart has autism and was last seen about 5pm Wednesday at his home in Clayton. Police say he wandered into the woods near his backyard.

More graphic testimony in the trial of Jerry Sandusky. Former graduate assistant Mike McQueary told the jury that when he saw Sandusky in the locker room showers with a 10 year old, there was no doubt in his mind that Sandusky was raping the boy. Another victim told of sleepovers and sex assaults at Sandusky’s house.

A 25 year old Upper Darby Man, Maurice Kimble, 25, was shot and killed last night outside P.Y.T., a popular bar at the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties. The shooting occurred along Hancock Street after a disagreement outside the bar. Police have recovered what is believed to be the murder weapon. The shooter is still being sought.
