Pennsylvania's candidates for governor faced off in a debate this morning in Philadelphia. Governor Tom Corbett and Democratic challenger Tom Wolf met at the CBS broadcast center for an hour long debate moderated by Larry Kane. The roundtable discussion format gave the candidates an opportunity to discuss the issues without the usual time limit restraints. Education, pensions, taxes, unemployment and fracking led the topic list.

The NFL has another issue to deal with after last night’s Kansas City Chiefs victory over the New England Patriots. In the 4th quarter, Chiefs safety Hussain Abdullah intercepted a Tom Brady pass and returned it for a touchdown. Abdullah, who is a Muslim, dropped to his knees in prayer (pictured). The referees threw a flag and penalized the team for unsportsmanlike conduct for a prolonged celebration. Social media is lighting up with opinions on whether the NFL should also fine him.Read More |

Nobody will confuse Market Street East with Times Square in New York, but bright lights will bring video billboards to the area. The Lit Brothers building on Market Street between 7th and 8th (pictured) will be fitted with digital billboards on the roof. Stadium-like wraparound LED boards will extend 14 feet above the roofline and should be completed in the next three months.

In what may be a silver lining in a very dark cloud over Philadelphia, the attack on the gay couple in Center City has galvanized citizens to change hate crime laws at the state and local levels. Legislators here are introducing a bill that would include sexual orientation as a hate crime which would draw an extra 90 days behind bars and a $2,000 fine.

Trooper ambush suspect Eric Frein is still on the loose. He is believed to hold a grudge against police authority. After allegedly killing one PA state trooper three weeks ago, Frein is now frustrating an army of almost 1,000 in the search party and possibly embarrassing them in the manhunt. A middle school teacher has been charged amid allegations he had sex with a 15 year old student. Thirty eight year old William Barber is a Phys. Ed and Health teacher at Garnet Valley Middle School and a coach of the football and baseball teams. Barber started the viral “lemon shot challenge” to benefit pediatric cancer on social media to help his daughter who is sick.

Overturned tractor trailers made a mess for morning commuters around Philadelphia today. The first overturned Southbound on I-95 at Bridge Street blocking 3 lanes and stopping traffic in both directions. On the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike, another tractor trailer overturned on 476 South between Quakertown and Lansdale backing up traffic for miles. The good news – No serious injuries were reported.

As the family prepares a funeral for Cpl. Bryon Dickson, the PA State Trooper killed in an ambush this week at his barracks in Pike County, police are zeroing in on a suspect. 31 year old Eric Matthew Frein (pictured) of Canadensis in Monroe County is the subject of a manhunt. Police say he is anti-government and extremely dangerous. Frein is said to have belonged to a military simulation unit whose members play the roles of eastern European soldiers.
