The 2012 Mummers Parade in Philadelphia was another huge success in the long tradition of the New Years Day tradition. The weather was perfect, and aside from a little brawl between some mummers and viewers caught on video, the day could not have been better.
Especially for the Woodland String Band. The band snagged first place for the first time in its 87-year history. Woodland was last to pass the judges but made a lasting impression.

Philly.com reported on Specter's appearance, "I've been in comedy now for 30 years," the former senator explained.
Taking a try at stand-up was a natural step after spending so many years in the "sit-down comedy" of Congress - and, Specter noted, it was considerably less expensive.
