40,000 people are going through their final preparations before Philadelphia's 35th annual Broad Street Run. The 10 mile run down Broad starts at Central High and finishes at the Navy Yard. Runners picking up race bibs today and tomorrow are reminded that bag checks will not accept backpacks in heightened security. Pre-race bag checks will only accept clear plastic bags.

Peaking flood waters will recede this afternoon but not before causing havoc in homes, on the roads and mass transit around Philadelphia. We got more than a month's worth of rain in one day – close to 7 inches in some areas. Rising waters stranded cars and busses. Several people had to be rescued from floodwaters. A homeowner in Overbrook has apparently shot and killed an intruder during a home invasion last night. The 22 year old man arrived home and found four or five people in his house. One of them was killed in the confrontation. Philadelphia police report the homeowner was also shot in the leg but is expected to be okay.

A Chester County businesswoman has been charged with stealing over $1 million from her employer. Fifty Nine year old Joyce Hawkins was a senior level employee at ModSpace in Berwyn making $200,000 a year in salary. According to police, Hawkins authorized $1 million in payments to her non-profit organization, "Caring Hearts, LLC" over a 4 year period.

Philadelphia native Jack Ramsay has died. Jack Ramsay played for and then went on to coach the St. Joseph's University men's basketball team from 1955 to 1966. Ramsay became the General Manager of the 76ers and then coached the Sixers to three playoff appearances. Dr. Ramsay went on to coach the Portland Trail Blazers to the 1977 NBA title. A forest fire continues to burn in Ocean County New Jersey, the fifth fire that has swept through the pine barrens in the last week. Yesterday, the uncontained fire forced hundreds to evacuate their homes. In all 621 homes were evacuated during the alert from five separate fires.

A 72 year old classically trained street musician has filed a civil lawsuit against the Reading Terminal market, the Pennsylvania Convention Center and at least two Philly cops. The Chester Police Department is being investigated by the Delaware County District Attorney. Detectives served a warrant and are looking into evidence missing from the evidence room at Chester Police on East 7th Street. Apparently the allegation and complaint to the DA came from within the Chester Police Department.

Montgomery County authorities have filed charges against nine people in connection with the drug trafficking operation focused on distributing drugs to students at five high schools and three colleges on the Main Line. The "Main Line Take Over Project" was run by two former students of the prestigious Haverford School, Neil Scott and Timothy Brooks who would use sub-dealers at the schools to distribute marijuana, cocaine, hash oil and ecstasy.
