Sarah Murnaghan, the 11 year old girl who underwent two double lung transplants, is expected to go home from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this week, possibly tomorrow. Sarah is being treated for Cystic Fibrosis and no longer needs oxygen through a ventilator and can walk short distances with a walker.

A Lehigh University student has been found dead. According to the school, 19 year old Hanlon MacDonald from Albany, New York was found dead Thursday night inside her apartment. An autopsy has been scheduled but authorities say the death does not appear to be suspicious.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden has had successful treatment in Texas and is back to Delaware today. Fox 29 is reporting that two weeks before the Vice President’s son was hospitalized, emergency responders were called to Joe Biden’s home in Delaware where Beau was staying at the time with a report of a possible stroke victim.

In one of baseball's most unusual promotions, The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs ran an essay contest with the grand prize a funeral, complete with casket, flowers and headstone. The winner was announced in the 6th inning Tuesday, Steve Paul of Freemansburg who is suffering from ALS. Paul says it is a relief knowing he will leave his family with one less burden, but he hopes he won’t use the prize for several more years.

Doylestown Borough wants to crack down on the feral cat population roaming the streets. Council members there are discussing requiring cat owners to install locator chips on their collars. The move is in response to what supporters say will help reduce the stray cat population by dramatically increasing the likelihood stray cats will be returned to their owners.

SEPTA is getting ready to roll out its new high tech fare collection system that uses scan cards and a Validator. Riders will wave their card at what looks like a tablet or iPad and zip through to their train, trolley or bus. The idea is to speed things up and eliminate delays caused by riders who fumble with cash.

The Philadelphia School Reform Commission has voted to ignore seniority when rehiring teachers this year. Teachers are angry but William R. Hite says the plan gives the school district flexibility in hiring teachers for where they are most needed. Mayor Nutter wants to borrow $50 million to fund the schools, but City Council is not buying into the his plan.
