Philadelphia International Cycling Championship Changes, Center City Free Concert Series, NJ Tan Ban

The Philadelphia International Cycling Championship will go through a few changes this year. The professional race will be shortened to 7 instead of 10 trips around the 14.7 mile circuit. Also, an amateur race will be added that encompasses 3 loops around the circuit and up “The Wall” for a $85 entry fee, if you are brave enough. The pro race is going from 156 miles to 124 miles which race officials say is “more in line with what’s happening in cycling today.”

Police are investigating the murder of a 4 month baby after unveiling evidence of abuse on the victim. The Upper Darby boy died in November and now the medical examiner calls the death of Jaden Jones a homicide after the autopsy revealed a broken leg and spinal injuries.

Broad Street Run Ran Perfect, Duck Boat Stalls on Delaware, Eve to Play Kung Fu Necktie

The 33rd annual Broad Street Run was held this morning with perfect running weather, overcast upper 50's and low humidity. The 40,000 participants ran the 10-miler from Central High School in North Philly down to the Navy Yard in South Philly passing by cheering crowds all along the route. The race has grown in popularity recently, partly due to a younger and more active city population, into the largest 10 mile race in the country. Lakehurst, NJ, Hindenburg Disaster 75 years later

The Hindenburg luxury airliner was the pride of Adolf Hitler's Germany. The trans-atlantic dirigible was a part of a fleet of airships that the Nazi nation flew around the world built by the Zeppelin company. On May 6, 1937 the Hindenburg was coming into a routine docking with its air mast at the airfield in Lakehurst, NJ, Ocean County when it suddenly caught fire and was destroyed in seconds as it crashed to the ground.

This weekend's night skies will be especially bright with the biggest full moon of the year peaking on Saturday night at 11:35 PM. It's called the "super moon". A super moon is when a full moon coincides with the moon's "perigee" or its closest approach to Earth. The moon's orbit is not a perfect circle around the Earth, so sometimes of the month it is closer than others.

Coldplay offers Tribute to Beastie Boy Adam Yauch last night in Hollywood

Yesterday, legendary Beastie Boy co-founder and music pioneer Adam Yauch aka MCA lost his nearly three year battle with cancer. He was 47. He was first diagnosed in July 2009.

Coldplay, like the rest of the music world in mourning, set aside time during their show at the Hollywood Bowl last night to pay tribute to Yauch. Archbishop Chaput Decides Fate of 8 Priests

Today, Archbishop Chaput announced the fate of 8 of 27 suspended priests. Three were determined that they can return to ministry while five cannot.

Six cases are still being reviewed by law enforcement officals, he said. Announcements on the remaining dozen will be announced in the coming weeks. One of the priests passed away before the review was completed.

Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch aka MCA has died at age 47

Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch has died at the age of 47 after a two-year battle with cancer. Known as "MCA", Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left salivary gland and a lymph node in July 2009. He had undergone surgery and radiation therapy.

Recently he was was too sick to appear alongside his fellow bandmates during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month.

Archbishop Chaput is scheduled to announce the fate of 27 priests linked to the sex abuse scandal. The priests had been suspended by Chaput's predecessor Cardinal Justin Rigali because of allegations of sexual abuse.

Yasine Harvey was shot at close range while leaving a corner store in West Philadelphia Wednesday night. He had just bought some food for a friend's sick aunt when a dark colored car with tinted windows drove by and someone inside opened fire. He died from his injuries Thursday morning.
