A former swimmer who once had hopes of qualifying for Olympic trials is suing Germantown Academy, alleging the school tolerated "physical and mental abuse" and allowed the swim coach to stay on despite numerous claims of abuse during his tenure. The swimmer, named John Doe in the suit, started training with Germantown Academy in 2012 when he was in 8th grade. The suit alleges then-coach Dick Shoulberg pitted him against another swimmer. At least 100 students have fallen ill at Ursinus College. Officials at the school say they are still working to track down the source of the sickness that is impacting so many of their students. The college voluntarily closed down their cafeteria after students became ill with stomach-related ailments. One man was injured after flames ripped through a home overnight in South Philadelphia. The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Reed Street in the Point Breeze section of the city. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control. One man was taken to Methodist Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The animated sequel, Kung Fu Panda 3, led the way at the box office, earning an estimated $21-million over the weekend for a second straight first-place finish. The runner-up was Hail, Caesar!, the debuting comedy from the Coen Brothers, with George Clooney, Channing Tatum, and Scarlett Johansson. It took in $11-million. Officials say a natural gas leak was found at a home in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia early Thursday morning, leading to an evacuation. Crews were first called to the 7200 block of North 21st Street just before 2 a.m. Officials say the gas leak was found on an exterior wall at a home, forcing that home to be evacuated. Two people received medical treatment, officials say. PGW worked throughout the overnight hours to fix the issue.

Police say a man has been arrested after he pulled a gun on a uniformed police officer. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers responded to a report of a person with a gun around 6:30 Tuesday evening at the intersection of 55th and Arch Streets. When officers approached the suspect, he ran half a block and then pulled a handgun and pointed it at one of the officers. Bill Cosby is scheduled to be in a Montgomery County courtroom today to argue sex assault charges against him should be dropped. Attorneys for the 78-year-old comedian claim the charges are based on a deposition from a civil trial in 2005, which they say is protected by a so-called "non-prosecution agreement" with then-District Attorney Bruce Castor. Crews were called to the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia Sunday evening after a sinkhole developed. The sinkhole formed on the 1600 block of North Street. There was a water main break on the block earlier in the week. The Water Department is working to repair the hole. A postal truck got stuck in the hole earlier in the evening. The Water Department says people on the block will be without water until at least Monday morning.

Sonic booms heard and felt in Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean and Camden counties were caused by military fighter jets conducting tests. Military officials said an F-35C and an F-18 jet were conducting routine test flights from the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River Thursday afternoon. The booms started just before 1:30 p.m. and lasted about 90 minutes. They caused a series of 911 calls throughout Jersey shore communities.
