The NFL players' union appealed Ray Rice's indefinite suspension Tuesday night. The NFLPA said that the collective bargaining agreement requires a hearing date be set within 10 days of the appeal notice. It also said the hearing will require a neutral arbitrator to determine what information was available to the NFL and when it was available. A 16-year-old is in police custody, accused of shooting a 13-year-old twice in the stomach. The shooting happened around 8pm Monday night near Marvine Street and Erie Avenue. Police say the shooting may have been an accident. The 13-year-old is recovering in the hospital.

Longtime editorial cartoonist with the Philadelphia Inquirer and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tony Auth has died after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Tony began his career at the Inquirer in 1971. After leaving the Inquirer in 2012, Auth went on to become the artist-in-residence at Newsworks/WHYY. In addition to Monday's coverage, the Inquirer will likely run several pages of in-depth discussion on Tony Auth’s works in Sunday’s 'Currents' Section. Tony Auth was 72 years old.

A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago, while league executives have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week. An early morning shooting in West Philadelphia has left a man fighting for his life. Police say a 24-year-old man was sitting on the front porch of his home when he was shot twice in the back. A friend of the victim tried to take him to the hospital, but on the way they were involved in a minor car accident. No one was injured in the crash.
