A new study of commute times shows the average Philadelphia driver spends nearly three days a year stuck in traffic. The navigation company TomTom released its annual Traffic Index report, measuring the impact traffic congestion has on over 200 cities around the world. A taxi driver was arrested overnight after leading police on a chase and crashing into a fence in South Philadelphia. Police say they received calls of a taxi going the wrong way. When officers found that taxi, police say the driver was asleep behind the wheel. When he wouldn’t wake up, the officers broke the window. A SEPTA bus driver found a four-year-old girl outside in the rain overnight by herself next to a bus stop at Torresdale Avenue and Magee Street. The driver let the girl on the bus until police arrived. It remains unclear how long she was outside before she was discovered. A two hour effort then followed to find the girl’s family and home. The girl was eventually taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she would later be reunited with her mother. She did not suffer any injuries.Read More

Police say they are investigating a home invasion that occurred early Thursday morning in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia. This happened just before 4 a.m. on the 1700 block of Chadwick Street. Police say when they arrived, the elderly woman who lives in the house says a black man broke in and assaulted her. Philadelphia's restaurant industry will be well represented at this year's James Beard Foundation Awards ceremony in Chicago. The nominees include five chefs, one restaurant mogul and a beer baron. A chocolate study from the University of Ghana is getting quite a great deal of attention from a meeting in Denver for the American Chemical Society. It's about a way to make chocolate more nutritious. Chocolate in small doses can have a protective effect on the heart. Antioxidants linked to chocolate lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and stroke risk when consumed in small doses. Several cars were broken into overnight in Northeast Philadelphia and it appears the thieves may have been targeting airbags. Five vehicles were broken into, all within about a block of each other in the area of Hartel Avenue and Frontenac Street in the city's Rhawnhurst section. The cars were all Hondas. The windows were smashed out, and in three of them, the airbags were stolen. Officials say airbags are targeted because they can be removed within minutes and can sell for several hundred... A second suspect sought in the shooting death of a man in the Overbrook neighborhood of Philadelphia last week has surrendered. 15-year-old Tyfine Hamilton turned himself into Philadelphia Police around 2:30 a.m. Friday. His family says Tyfine was off his medication at the time of the shooting and needs help. Police say Hamilton was the triggerman in the fatal shooting.

Cleanup continues Thursday morning after a tractor trailer overturned on the I-676 ramp in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. The accident was reported Wednesday night at the I-676 westbound ramp near the base of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. One person has been taken to Hahnemann University Hospital with minor injuries.
