The President is back in Washington after a quick trip to Philadelphia Thursday. President Barack Obama spoke for about 20 minutes giving House Democrats a pep talk and setting the agenda for the year to come. President Obama talked about job growth, the economy and immigration at the Caucus retreat that began in Philadelphia earlier in the week. Vice President Joe Biden will be in town Friday to address the Caucus.

Lululemon Looted, South Philly Fire Kills Two, Urban Saloon Robbed

Vandals targeted the Lululemon store in Center City, two days after a partial roof collapse injured three people at that same location. The vandals tossed a brick through the door and stole clothing and other merchandise. Several people suffered minor injuries Tuesday after bricks from a neighboring building crashed through the roof of the store on the 1500 block of Walnut Street.

Philadelphia International Airport is dealing with dozens of cancelled flights this morning. The majority of the cancellations are with arriving flights, but there are a good number of departures that have been cancelled as well. The majority of the affected flights are scheduled to either arrive or depart before 10am. Snow Emergency Lifted In Philadelphia and New Jersey

At 6am on Tuesday, the Snow Emergency in Philadelphia was lifted. Normal parking can resume on Snow Emergency Routes. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced on Twitter that the travel ban for south of Interstate 195 in that state was lifted as of 7am. Effective at 7:30am, the travel ban was lifted for all 21 counties in New Jersey. All Philadelphia Public and Archdiocesan schools are closed on Tuesday.

Philadelphia Archdiocesan schools and Catholic elementary schools in Philadelphia will also close at noon. Philadelphia Fire Department officials are investigating three car fires overnight, all happening within a few blocks of each other in the Tacony section of the city. The first was on the 6300 block of Ditman Street just before 2:30 a.m. There were two vehicles on fire at this location. The Fire Marshal is also investigating another car fire on Torresdale Avenue, just about two blocks away. An apartment fire lit up the night sky Wednesday in Edgewater, New Jersey leaving hundreds of residents displaced. Gusty winds and frigid temperatures made it difficult for firefighters to get control of the flames. Smoke from the fire could even be seen across the Hudson River in Midtown Manhattan. No injuries were reported.

According to The Journal of the National Cancer Institute, people who drink coffee on a regular basis, four or more cups a day, had a 20% lower risk for developing the deadliest form of skin cancer, malignant melanoma, than those who drank less coffee. The same did not hold true for decaffeinated coffee drinkers. Malignant melanoma is the 5th most common cancer in the United States and the leading cause of skin cancer deaths. A major gas leak in South Philadelphia forced the evacuation of 6 homes early Tuesday morning on Snyder Avenue around 2:40am. Captain William Dixon of the Philadelphia Fire Department says there was a 60% natural gas reading in the air when the leak was discovered. South Philly High School was opened as a warming center for people who couldn’t yet return to their homes. No one was injured due to the gas leak.

Three people are dead after multi-vehicle accidents on both the Schuylkill Expressway and the Blue Route Sunday morning because of wet and icy roads. One person was killed and several dozen others were injured after a pileup involving at least 50 vehicles on the westbound Schuylkill Expressway near the Gulph Mills exit.
