The Phillies lost in a high scoring bout last night, 11-7. The loss was nothing new, especially in Citizens Bank Park this year, where the Phils have had horrible outings this year, but the way in which the game went possibly gave fans some light at the end of the tunnel. Taxpayers Fund Sandusky's Charity, Child Starvation Charges, Red Light Traffic Cameras

Pennsylvania taxpayers have supported convicted pedophile Jerry Sandusky’s charity, The Second Mile to the tune of $1.4 million dollars, and continue to do so. So far this year, state backed donations are over $122,000. During Sandusky’s trial, it was revealed some of Sandusky’s molestation victims came through the Second Mile foundation. As the state reviews budgets, it is likely the Second Mile will lose its status as an approved Educational Improvement Organization.

Jerry Sandusky may be able to retain his $59,000 per year state pension for the rest of his life. Sandusky is still collecting monthly pension checks totaling $4,908.17. The state law, which governs when pensions must be forfeited by a convict, does not include any specific references to sex crimes. Get ready for another heat wave this weekend. An excessive heat watch is in effect from Friday 12pm until Sunday 8pm. Temperatures look to be near 100 degrees on Friday, while cooling off slightly for Saturday and Sunday, which will be closer to the mid-90s. Be sure to look out for signs out of dehydration (thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat) and to drink plenty of water. Central Bucks High School East teacher, Natalie Munroe, was dismissed on a 7-0 vote by the school board. The Bucks County teacher drew national attention last year with her 'anonymously' penned blog, calling her students "frightfully dim" and "utterly loathsome." She was let go for "unsatisfactory performance." Munroe was suspended in February 2011 when word of her blog began to spread. South Street Pizza Shop, Lorenzos, on Fire; Firefighter injured.

Philadelphia firefighters have been fighting a blaze at the popular late night pizza shop Lorenzo's on South Street since this morning. Emergency crews were called at 10:26 a.m. to 305 South Street. Flames were already making their way through the building's first floor pizza store and second and third floor apartments.

A firefighter was treated and released at Hahnemann Hospital after injuring he knee.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is selling some very attractive real estate. Archbishop Charles Chaput has ordered the sale of the oceanfront 19 room home on Princeton Avenue in Ventnor. Villa St. Joseph by the Sea stretches a full block along the Boardwalk and is assessed at $6.2 million.
