El Wingador Sentenced to 7 years; 13 Hospitalized in AC crash; October 80's Continue this weekend

Local competitive eating champion, 'El Wingador,' has been sentenced to 7 years in prison on cocaine charges. William Simmons, 51, of Woodbury Heights, NJ, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine back in July. He was arrested in June 2012 in an undercover sting with around $8,000 worth of the drug and $4,000 in cash. Simmons has been apologetic since his arrest. Three Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Parent Complaints on Schools, Grant Money for Phila Waterfront

They will walk 60 miles to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. This morning 1.200 participants in the Three Day Walk for The Cure started at the Willow Grove Mall. Some are walking in memory of a loved one lost to breast cancer. All are fighting for advancement against cancer. They will wind their way across the city over the next 3 days and finish at the Navy Yard.

Newark Murder Suspect Sought, Philadelphia Fire Hearings, D.C Driver Dead

Delaware State Police say a search is underway for an attempted murder suspect in Newark. Marquel May is wanted by the Cecil County Sheriff's Office for attempted murder. State police say the search was initiated around 4:15 p.m. when members of the Cecil County Drug Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle on Old Baltimore Pike in the area of South College Avenue, and May fled from the vehicle.

The United States Capitol was placed on lockdown this afternoon after a woman rammed her car into a White House gate, then was chased by Secret Service and exchanged gunfire with police. The woman was shot and killed and one Capitol Police officer was injured. It all started at around 2 pm when she attempted to drive her car through the White House gate near 15th St. and E. Montgomery County is appealing the order that bans gay marriage. Democratic officials are taking the ban on same sex marriage licenses to the State Supreme Court. Montgomery County had issued 174 licenses to same sex couples prior to the ban.

A senior defense official says U.S. military academy football teams, Army, Navy, and Air Force, will be on the field this weekend, despite the ongoing government shutdown. A private security guard hired to monitor Penn Wood High School’s Green Avenue campus has been arrested for stealing $15,000 in musical instruments from the school. 54-year-old Cory Thompson of Philadelphia turned himself in yesterday and was arraigned in Upper Darby court today. Last April, some one set fire to that school building. While the restoration work was being completed the district hired security to guard the buildings 24/7. On October 5th, iradiophilly will be broadcasting live from the Paoli Blues Festival. The festival is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Love Park Victim Had Record, Softball Coach Sex Charges, Officer Winkis Arraigned

The man shot at Love Park yesterday has died. Police also revealed he was not a tourist taking pictures as early reports indicated. The 38 year old victim who was fired at eight times was a known drug dealer with a record of arrests on drug and gun charges. The shooting remains under investigation.
