Alex is the President of the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and quite capably explained to me the many benefits the Chamber provides to local businesses. But it doesn't stop there. Hundreds paid tribute today to two fallen officers. Millville Police Officer Christopher Reeves had a funeral and was laid to rest today. He was killed in the line of duty when his cruiser was struck by a vehicle driven by a suspect fleeing from police. Acting New Jersey Governor Kim Guadagno has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff to honor Officer Reeves. Officer Reeves was an eight-year veteran of the force. The funeral procession for Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo closed 8th Street, Arch Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway this morning on its way to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Lorenzo was killed last weekend after his shift when his motorcycle was struck be a car traveling the wrong way on I 95. The driver of the car was allegedly drunk.

Kensington Pitbull Attack, Oxford Circle Car Shooting, Penn State Must Answer Questions

A mother and son were bitten by a pit bull in the city's Kensington neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
It happened near Coral and Firth streets. Authorities say the dog bit the child in the leg and then bit the mother as she tried to help her son. Police also say the father hit the dog with a hammer to free the boy. Animal Control officers were called to the scene and took the dog away.

Maria Cole, Widow of Nat King Cole, Dies at 89

Maria Hawkins Cole, widow of the great Nat King Cole, has passed away after a battle with cancer. A singer for Duke Ellington and Count Basie, she met and married Nat King Cole. Together they had Natalie, Timolin, and Casey Cole. Natalie continued in her parents footsteps and became and R&B performer.

In 1965 when her husband, the great Nat ‘King’ Cole, passed away, she created the Cole Cancer Foundation in his honor.

US District Judge William H. Yohn sees no difference between feeding the homeless outside at City Hall or outside in city parks along the Parkway, or that it is better or any more dignified on the concrete compared to the grass. He will be extending his temporary injunction against the enforcement of Mayor Nutter's city law banning outdoor feeding of groups larger than three for at least a year. Slash's good friend Charlie Sheen made an appearance at Slash's Hollywood Walk of Fame celebration. Although not planned, Sheen gave a speech which ended in a demeaning insult of Guns N' Roses partner Axl Rose. Sheen said, "You know, it’s quite fitting, I think, that Slash is getting a star on the very street that Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on." The open air of Fairmount Park was filled with the sounds of 80s rockers Tesla and Scorpions last night. Tesla took the stage around 7:45 with the energy and intensity they always bring to the stage. The crowd was on their feet as the band gave them their best: “Modern Day Cowboy,” “Little Suzi,” “Signs,” “Love Song,” “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out),” and many others. The Louis Freeh report was made public today. The internal investigation of Penn State's handling of Jerry Sandusky, Joe Paterno and former Penn State President Graham Spanier reveals that everybody knew of Sandusky's actions and they covered up the incidents to avoid negative publicity. The results of Penn State's internal investigation into the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal were set to be released Thursday morning. The investigation, led by former federal judge and FBI director Louis Freeh interviewed hundreds of people to learn what Penn State officials did or didn’t do after allegations against Sandusky began surfacing about 14 years ago. Sandusky was convicted on 45 criminal counts in June.
