Former DA Seth Williams Sentenced 5 Years; Delco Middle School Closed; Woman Found in Trash Bag

Former Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams was sentenced today to the maximum 5 years in federal prison. Under a plea deal, Williams pled guilty to one count of bribery halfway into his corruption trial in June. In exchange, the other 28 charges were dropped. He was accused of taking gifts, vacations, and cash in exchange for political favors. He was also accused of using campaign money for personal expenses and city vehicles for personal trips. Philadelphia Police are now investigating after a 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in a stabbing during a fight in the Olney section of Philadelphia. The fight happened just before 4 pm on Monday on the 5000 block of Rising Sun Avenue. The girl was stabbed in the side by an unknown weapon, she was then rushed to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition. No weapon was recovered at the scene and no arrests have been made as of yet.

Federal agents and local law enforcement officers are conducting raids at several urgent care providers in the area as part of an apparent pill mill investigation. DEA, FBI, and U.S. Marshals were out collecting evidence from at least two locations of Advanced Urgent Care. Three Philadelphia Police officers were injured in a motorcycle accident on Sunday night in Center City. The accident took place at around 5:30 pm on Sunday along Market Street near 12th Street. The highway officers were injured while riding their motorcycles as part of the IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police) convention in town. Three members of the Philadelphia Police highway patrol motorcycle 'drill' team were injured on Sunday evening while performing in Center City. It happened around 5:30 p.m. at 12th and Market Streets. The officers were performing a stunt for the International Association of Chiefs of Police Convention when their bikes became entangled causing the crash. Philadelphia Police have arrested a man for sneaking onto Center City rooftops. 39-year-old Michael Zallie has been charged with burglary, trespass, and criminal mischief. Police released surveillance video from three different incidents in the last month where he was caught gaining entry to the roofs of two Center City buildings. The Philadelphia District Attorney's office announced the arrest of 9 individuals, many of them family members, of an illegal lottery and gambling ring in the city. They have been tracking the organizer, 66-year-old Gary Creagh Sr, for 20 years. His son, daughter, and nephew were also arrested. A few hundred students at Coatesville Area High School walked out of class on Friday morning to stage a 'Unity Event' in response to racial incidents surrounding the school in the past few weeks. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled on Thursday to disbar former District Attorney Seth Williams. Last June, Williams pled guilty to federal corruption charges and then resigned as district attorney. Williams is now facing up to 5 years in prison and is set to be sentenced next Tuesday.

SEPTA suspended three Regional Rail lines north of Fern Rock Transportation Center following a fatal accident on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. near the Fern Rock station. Accordning to Police and SEPTA a person was struck and killed by a train. The Lansdale/Doylestown and West Trenton lines have since resumed.
