The North Philadelphia mother and restaurateur known for throwing lavish prom send off parties has pled guilty to federal fraud charges including multiple counts of wire fraud and acceptance of government benefits. 44-year-old Saudia Shuler applied for Social Security disability in 2014 after having cancer and suffering a stroke. 41 employees (including 4 supervisors) of a human services non-profit in Delaware County have been charged in an overtime rigging and kickback scheme. They are all accused of stealing nearing $1 million from the Elwyn Organization over a 21-month period. The supervisors would adjust employee's time sheets and add overtime hours. The Susan G. Komen foundation announced on Tuesday, 1/15, that it will be replacing the Race for the Cure with a new event called the More Than Pink Walk. The race tradition has been held annually on Mother's Day for 28 years. By next year, all 66 Komen affiliates will switch over to the new walk only format. A gunman was shot and two female hostages were freed by SWAT following a hostage situation at a UPS facility in Gloucester County, NJ, on Monday morning, 1/14. Philadelphia Police are searching for a man wanted for an attempted luring at a Germantown elementary school. It happened on Tuesday, 1/8, at Mastery Charter John Wister Elementary. A man in Camden County was arrested and charged with distribution of child pornography on Tuesday, 1/8. Detectives from the High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU) of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office executed a search warrant at a residence on 3rd Street off of the Black Horse Pike in Runnemede. 46-year-old James Merna was charged with Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. The man accused of killing a Temple University student in 2017 and disposing of her body in the mountains pled guilty to several counts as his trial began on Tuesday, 1/8. 30-year-old Joshua Hupperterz is on trial for the murder of 22-year-old Jenna Burleigh in August 2017.
