Charges Dropped Against Trash Truck Driver; Missing Philly NAACP Man Found; $3mil Scratch-Off Philly

A judge has dismissed charges against a trash truck driver who allegedly hit and killed a female on a bike in Center City in 2017. 28-year-old Jorge Fretts was charged with vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and reckless endangerment in February 2019. Judge Lillian Ransom dismissed all charges on Wednesday, 8/15. The city has 30-days to appeal.

Six Philadelphia Police officers were shot and nine total were injured during an active standoff in the Tioga-Nicetown section of North Philadelphia on Wednesday, 8/14. Two officers and and three hostages who were trapped inside the home for several hours were evacuated by SWAT. The situation has ended.

A carjacking followed by a police chase ended when the suspect crashed into multiple vehicles in Kensington on Monday afternoon, 8/12. It started around 3:50 p.m. on the 3600 block of North 17th Street with the report of a shooting. Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Bucks County early Monday morning, 8/12. The body of 38-year-old Timothy McGuire of Ogden was found in the bushes along Hulmeville Road near King Avenue in Bensalem after 6 a.m. by a neighbor out for a walk. Two people were injured when a small two-person helicopter crashed near Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) on Sunday afternoon, 8/11. It happened around 2:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Postal Road in Hanover Township. Lehigh Valley airport officials say that the Schweizer 269C helicopter departed from the ACE Pilot Training School at the airport. SEPTA is offering a $1,000 reward for information that can help identify a suspect wanted for punching a SEPTA bus driver last month. It happened on July 8th on the Route 55 bus. A young man stepped onto the bus but did not have any fare. The driver did not allow the man to board the bus. Before the man exited, the suspect punched the operator in the face. He then fled.
