Three teens were killed and two other people were injured in a crash on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, 5/19. It happened just after 9 p.m. on the 4000 block of Kelly Drive near North Ferry Drive. Four teens were traveling eastbound into Center City in a 2006 Mazda. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday, 5/17, that he is lifting the outdoor mask mandate across the state effective immediately. However, the indoor mask mandate will stay in place for now, despite guidance from the CDC that says vaccinated people do not need masks indoors. It happened just after 5 p.m. at the Metro PCS store on the 900 block of Kirkwood Highway in Elsmere, DE. Police were called when the store was found unoccupied with the register open. A man survived after his car veered off the road and plunged into the Wissahickon Creek early Saturday morning, 5/15. It happened just after 5 a.m. on the 4600 block of Ridge Avenue in Roxbourough. The driver lost control and went off the road. The car landed on its roof on some rocks in the creek and water started filling the vehicle. Rescuers were able to get the man out in time. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney announced on Friday night, 5/14, that the partial human remains of victims from the 1985 MOVE bombing investigation, previously believed to have been destroyed, have now been found. In 2017, former Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley ordered the cremation and disposal of those remains without notifying the family. The Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners passed ordinances this week banning smoking on the beach and limiting use of recreational marijuana in certain public places. All of the new ordinances will go into effect on June 7. Wildwood Crest used to allow designated smoking areas on the beach, but now the entire beach will be smoke free.
