Three teens were killed and two other people were injured in a crash on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, 5/19. It happened just after 9 p.m. on the 4000 block of Kelly Drive near North Ferry Drive. Four teens were traveling eastbound into Center City in a 2006 Mazda. The car lost control going around a curve and slammed into a 2018 Honda SUV that was going westbound. 18-year-old Joyce Roberts, who was driving the Mazda, and 17-year-old Julian Durant, the front passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. 19-year-old Juwan Johnson, a rear passenger, died later at the hospital. A 17-year-old male rear passenger is at the hospital in critical condition. The 65-year-old male drive of the SUV was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. He was conscious and walking after the crash. The Accident Investigation Division is investigating the crash.

Philadelphia Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run of a 6-year-old boy last weekend in Hunting Park. It happened at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, 5/16, on the 600 block of Erie Avenue. 6-year-old Lincoln Brown-Epps was crossing the street with his 16-year-old sister and 14-year-old cousin when he ran ahead. He was struck by a light colored minivan. The driver initially stopped. He got out and asked if they boy was ok, before got back in the van and drove away. The boy was taken to the hospital with bruises. The van had a temporary New Jersey paper registration tag 005218T.

"At least he got out and checked on the child before he left the scene. However, as I said before, he didn't commit a crime when he hit the child. Obviously, it wasn't intentional. But when you leave the scene you do commit a crime," Philadelphia Police Cpt. Mark Overwise said. "We give the driver the benefit of the doubt. That benefit of the doubt is not going to last very long."

"You are so heartless to see a little boy lying on the ground, and just to leave the scene? Like, wow - how heartless can you be?" said Kelli Epps, the boy's mother. "You hit a little boy in the face with your truck, your van, how could you possibly think he's okay?"

Pennsylvania officials announced on Thursday, 5/20, that 50% of adult Pennsylvanians are now fully vaccinated against coronavirus COVID-19. 68% of adults have had at least 1 dose. Governor Wolf has said that he will lift the mask mandate for all residents once the 70% of adults 18 and older become fully vaccinated. You are considered fully vaccinated two week after your final dose. All other pandemic restrictions, except for masks, will be lifted on Memorial Day, 5/31. Fully vaccinated people do not have to wear masks in most situations.
