The Sixers have now stated that Joel Embiid will not be participating in the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Skills Challenge during the All-Star Weekend this upcoming weekend. The Sixers said that he will not be participating due to his injured left knee. The NBA announced that Oklahoma City's Alex Abrines will replace Embiid at the Rising Stars Game and Denver's Nikola Jokic will take Embiid's spot in the Skills Challenge.

A man is now in critical condition after he was shot in the Oak Lane section of Philadelphia Wednesday night. The shooting took place near Lambert Street and Chelten Avenue at around 8:30 pm. Police were in pursuit of an armed man, and then called in for backup after shots were fired. After backup came, three officers discharged their weapons. A Catholic School teacher in Norristown has been accused of sexual abuse charges involving a 3-year-old girl. 32-year-old Michael Barbee, a teacher at the early learning program at Saint Francis Of Assisi Parish in Norristown has been placed in police custody. Police officers say that Barbee admitted to touching the three year old child during nap time at the school. The Sixers have now stated that Jahlil Okafor will be joining the team on Wednesday night against the Celtics. Okafor has been in the midst of a trade rumor between the Sixers and the Pelicans, and has not been playing much because of it. Head Coach Brett Brown said earlier this week that playing Okafor in the middle of the trade talks could complicate things. Coach Brown stated "It's still fluid but if you see me not play him, that's probably the reason."

Lehigh Valley authorities are now investigating a fire that broke out in North Whitehall Township on Tuesday night. The fire broke out at around 7 pm at the old Rockdale Hotel on the 1800 block of Rockdale Road. The hotel had been converted into a three-story house. The fire was eventually put out by the responding fire crews, but the building appeared to be completely destroyed. Luckily no injuries were reported in fire.

Falls Township Police have arrested a major drug dealer in Bucks County. Darren Thompson was placed into police custody on Tuesday and is accused of dealing large amounts of heroin in Falls and Bristol Townships. Falls Township detectives have been investigating Thompson for the past four months and say that undercover officers had bought over 70 bags of heroin from him in those months. Thompson reportedly sold over 1,400 bags of heroin a week.

A woman was killed in a house fire that broke out in the Frankford section of Philadelphia on Monday. The fire broke out on the 5200 block of Akron Street at around 4:30 pm on Monday. Officials say that 4 people were inside of the home when the fire broke out. A couple and their child were able to escape, but a grandmother who had been bedridden for several years was unable to make it out of the house. The Pennsylvania SPCA stopped an ongoing dog fight that happened on Sunday. The SPCA arrived at a house on the 600 block of West Diamond Street this past Sunday. SPCA officers arrived on the scene to find one of the dogs dead, but were able to rescue eight other dogs, one of them being seriously injured. The Sixers General Manager Bryan Colangelo has updated Joel Embiid's injury report and says that Embiid has a "very minor meniscal injury" in his left knee. Colangelo also stated that his knee injury is not the source of the pain that has kept Embiid out for nine straight games. Colangelo also talked to reporters after the Sixers beat the Heat on Saturday 117-109 stated that the MRI taken of Emiid's knee showed a small tear and bruise.
