Today is both Good Friday for area Christians and the beginning of Passover for Jews, a weekend that is both highly religious but also mixed with some secular culture. $10k Reward for Brick Assailant, Free Wifi in Philadelphia, Shore Town May Close Bars at Midnight

The company that owns the E-Z Park lot in Center City where an attendant was attacked with a brick this week, is putting up a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the attackers. Anyone with information can call Philadelphia’s Citizen’s Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS.

The Flyers beat the Buffalo Sabres tonight 2-1 knocking the Sabres out of the playoff picture. The Penguins garnered a win over the New York Rangers 5-2. That will officially place the Flyers as the #5 seed and the Penguins #4 in the Eastern Conference. The two Atlantic Division rivals will meet in Round 1 of the NHL playoffs. According to the Census Bureau, Philadelphia and the surrounding counties' population all continued to grow since the 2010 National census. The 2010 Census was the first since 1950 that Philadelphia showed an increase. From April 2010 to July 2011 they estimate that the population of Philadelphia County had an increase of 10,465 people or a +0.7 percent jump. Mail Line Mansion Destroyed, Reassessment Plan Questioned, G-Boys Closes.

Bloomfield, known to neighbors as The Old Ewing Estate, a huge historic Mail Line mansion was destroyed by a fire yesterday. The Villanova estate had 19 bedrooms, 12 and a half baths in over 22,000 square feet. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The estate served as the set for a movie called "Safe" to be released later this month. The mansion was located on S. Ithan Ave near Villanova's South Campus.

The Phillies have won the opener beating the Pirates on opening day in Pittsburg. Phillies ace Roy Halladay pitched eight strong innings giving up two hits in the first inning then shut down the Pirates hitters the rest of the way. Jerry Sandusky makes a court appearance today. The judge will hear a motion from Sandusky's counsel to dismiss the charges because he claims details of past molestation accusations are so vague, he cannot adequately prepare a defense.

Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth II's youngest son, is coming to the Philly on April 26 and 27. He'll be in town for a series of events marking his mother's 60 years on the British throne. Would you pay someone to Tweet for you? According to Philly.com, Phialdelphia City Councilman Jim Kenney paid a PR firm $29,000 in taxpayer money. No other Council member uses an outside contractor for Twitter help. And Kenney already has one of the priciest staffs on Council including 10 staff totalling $654,000 in salaries.
