PECO Power Restoration, Nutter Tax Lien Online Auction, Rape Offender Rights Bill

PECO says it's an all hands on deck effort as they work to restore electricity. 200 local contractors joined their crews to assist with restoration efforts. In addition to that, there are 500 field personal who are coming from utilities from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and New York. But PECO officials say power restoration is going to take some time.

Original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will be rejoining the Smashing Pumpkins when they go out this summer on a co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson. NWS Says No Tornado in NJ, 85 mph Straight-line Winds; Philly Delegation Meets Pope at Vatican

National Weather Service officials have determined that it was not a tornado that caused massive damage, but rather 85 mph straight-line winds that hit Gloucester County, New Jersey during severe storms on Tuesday night. Investigators looked for patterns in the damage that would have shown the circular rotation of a tornado. Instead they called it a macroburst of high winds. The lineup for Jay Z's Budweiser Made in America festival has been announced. The music festival will be held on Labor Day weekend, Sat/Sun September 5th and 6th on the Ben Franklin Parkway at the Art Museum. Beyonce and The Weeknd will headline the two nights. Last night's 75 mile per hour winds and severe weather toppled trees, shut down roads, cut power and brought mass transit to a standstill. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without power. Delaware and Chester counties in PA got slammed. iRadioPhilly's power grid was down for hours. Cape May, Gloucester and Camden counties in N.J. were the hardest hit. Tuesday's storms have caused big problems on SEPTA rail lines this morning. Downed trees and power outages have cause suspensions on regional rails. The Media-Elwyn and Fox Chase lines are suspended. The Paoli Thorndale Line is shut down between Thorndale and Malvern. Norristown High Speed line is suspended between Radnor and Norristown and there's no service at the Chester Transportation Center. Organizers for the World Meeting of Families announced the musical performers that would take the stage at the foot of the Art Museum steps on the Ben Franklin Parkway during the Festival of Families on Saturday, September 26th. Severe thunderstorms rolled through the area this evening with heavy rains, strong winds, frequent lightening, and flooding. There were two Tornado Warnings issued, in Chester County, PA and Camden County, NJ. No confirmed reports yet. 140,000 lost power in the Philadelphia area due to down wires, lightening strikes, and fallen trees and debris. Atlantic City Electric reported that 249,000 lost power. The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Philadelphia today. The heat advisory will be in effect in until 6:00 p.m. With highs in the mid 90's accompanied by intense humidity, the heat index is expected to feel upwards of 100 degrees. After highs of 91 on Sunday and Monday, Tuesday rounds out the first official heat wave of the year. Severe thunderstorms are likely after 4 pm as a strong system moves in from the West part of Pennsylvania.
