Four-alarm Fire at NE Fitness Club; 2 Teen Brothers Shot; Leg Found Belongs to Bridge Jumper

A four-alarm fire broke out at the Aquahab Physical Therapy Center adjacent to the AFC Fitness Center in Northeast Philadelphia this morning. It started at 11 a.m. on the 3600 block of Grant Avenue at Fordham Road. Work was being done on the roof at the time. Workers were using a blow torch for welding and caused the fire. Around 400 nurses and other medical staff are now on strike at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill. Dozens of the nurses and staff protested outside of the hospital on Sunday. For months now the union has been in contract negotiations with the hospital to hopefully increase staff levels to no avail. An arrest was made in some of the recent threats to Jewish centers nationwide. 31-year-old Juan Thompson was arrested in St. Louis and will appear in federal court on Friday afternoon. He is charged with cyberstalking. He is behind at least 8 of the threats to Jewish Community Centers, plus a bomb threat to the New York Anti-Defamation League. Philadelphia Police are now searching for three suspects that are wanted in connection to a home invasion that took place in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia. The invasion took place on the 6500 block of Lebanon Avenue at around 3:19 pm on Thursday. Police are now investigating a stabbing that took place in the Logan section of Philadelphia on Wednesday night. The stabbing took place on 4800 block of North 10th Street at around 6:16 pm. The victim was stabbed twice on the left side of his back as well as once on his right side. Police then rushed him to Einstein Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
