An arrest was made in some of the recent threats to Jewish centers nationwide. 31-year-old Juan Thompson was arrested in St. Louis and will appear in federal court on Friday afternoon. He is charged with cyberstalking. He is behind at least 8 of the threats to Jewish Community Centers, plus a bomb threat to the New York Anti-Defamation League. Thompson is accused of calling in threats to JCC's across the country and putting the blame on his ex-girlfriend in an effort to harass her. He sent threats to centers in New York, Dallas, and San Diego. It all began this past summer when the couple broke up. He started by sending a letter to her employer, supposedly from a national news organization, saying that she'd been pulled over for drunken driving. Juan Thompson is a former leftist journalist for the site The Intercept. The threats to centers in our area were not among those. The investigation is ongoing. There have been over 100 individual threats across the country.

There is a $5,000 reward offered by the Pennsylvania SPCA after a pit bull was discovered dead in a trash bag in the city's Olney section. The black female pit bull terrier was discovered Thursday night on the 200 block of West Godfrey Avenue. It had been stabbed to death and had its mouth taped shut. The dog was wearing a black collar and had identifying white marks on her nose, under her neck, and across her chest. The agency is asking the public's help in identifying the dog and finding it's owners. The reward is for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible. You can contact the PSPCA at 215-426-6300, 866-601-SPCA, or www.pspca.org

Three people, including a child, have been hospitalized after a fire tore through a row home in Kensington this morning. It started around 11:15 a.m. on the 3200 block of E Street. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming out of the home. The three people were resuced and transported to area hospitals. The Red Paw Relief team says that 2 dogs were rescued and relocated next door, but 1 dog and 6 turtles died in the fire.
