The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that rookie QB Carson Wentz will be the starting quarterback Week 1 vs. the Cleveland Browns. The Number 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, missed the final three preseason games after injuring his ribs in the opener. The Eagles traded up to secure the number two slot and pick Wentz at the Draft. Post-Tropical Cyclone Hermine has tracked further east than expected, reducing some of the threats to our region. The storm still could intensify and move back west but not enough to cause significant impact. The rain from this system will stay well off shore. Coastal flooding, strong surf, rip currents, and winds down the shore will be an issue. Tropical Storm warnings are still in effect for South Jersey and Delaware shore points. Tropical Storm (Post Tropical Cyclone) Hermine continues to make its way up the coast. There are Tropical Storm warnings for Delaware and New Jersey coastal areas as they are expected to take the brunt of the storm. Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey and Governor Jack Markell of Delaware have already declared States of Emergency ahead of the storm. The Philadelphia Eagles have traded starting quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a first-round pick in 2017 and an additional pick in 2018. Bradford was acquired by the Eagles in a trade two years ago that sent Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams.

Country act Florida Georgia Line and alternative punk band blink-182 were both scheduled to play beach concerts this weekend in Atlantic City. One of the most important artists of the 20th century was our neighbor. He walked among us. He lived among us. He was not born here, but he became a man and a professional musician here. We celebrate his birthday next month. September 23rd, 2016. He would have been 90 years old.

His name was John William Coltrane.

Mayor Jim Kenney has condemned a photo circulating on social media of a Philadelphia police officer with an apparent Nazi-style tattoo on his arm. Kenney says the tattoo is "incredibly offensive" and not the sort of message police should be giving the community. With the new investment, Kenney says the programs will now be able to provide key financing to under-served businesses across Philadelphia.
