Atlantic City Housing Authority Fraud, NJ School Grad Rates Lower, Naval Flags Auction For $784,500

An Atlantic City Housing Authority staffer faces allegations that he stole thousands of dollars by creating and paying fraudulent contractors and invoices. Brian Lewis of Pleasantville faces numerous charges, including theft and official misconduct. He surrendered Tuesday to Atlantic County prosecutors and was later released.

High school graduation rates are lower in many New Jersey school districts because of a switch in the way the state computes dropouts. Officials say the new calculation is more accurate and useful — and complies with federal standards. The statewide graduation rate under the old formula last year would have been 95 percent. Under the new one, it’s 83 percent
.
Officials say a collection of rare and historic naval flags, including one banner that flew nearly two centuries ago on the USS Constitution, has netted a total of $784,500 following an auction in Philadelphia. The Constitution known as Old Ironsides, is the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat. It’s moored in the Charlestown section of Boston.
