Farm Accident Kills 1 Year Old-NJ Cop Guilty of Child Sex Assault-Chester Park Shooting

A 1-year-old boy, John Edward Burkholder died Sunday night at a Berks County farm while playing with a piece of farm equipment. The 1 year old accidentally fell into a soil mixing machine at the Burkholder Farm Market and was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was asphyxiation.

A former Moorestown, NJ police officer and his ex-girlfriend have been convicted on several child sex assault charges. Robert Melia Jr. was found guilty on 22 counts, including official misconduct. His ex-girlfriend, Heather Lewis was found guilty on 26 counts. Melia and Lewis both face more than 50 years in prison when they’re sentenced Sept. 13.

A 17-year-old boy is recovering after being shot inside the Sun Village Park in Chester Sunday afternoon. When police arrived, they found an unidentified teenager in the park, with a gunshot wound to his left foot. The boy's listed in stable condition at Crozer Chester Medical Center. The motive in this shooting is not yet known.
