Security Fast Lane Coming To Philadelphia International Airport

A security "fast lane" for travelers is coming to Philadelphia International Airport.

The TSA's Pre-Check program is designed to move passengers deemed "low risk" through a designated security line.

But it's only for those frequent fliers who pre-register, volunteering personal information so the government can pre-screen them for security.

The program may be in Philadelphia by the end of the year.

The TSA’s Pre-Check program is a pilot program at seven airports now. It’s expanding to 28 including Philadelphia by the end of the year.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, at a Washington news conference, said it’s designed to move passengers deemed "low risk" through a designated security line.

"This could include no longer having to remove shoes, laptops, jackets or belts."

A TSA spokeswoman says it’s too soon to say precisely when the PreCheck program will be in effect here.
