Local researchers have proof from a nationwide study that poor sleep will hurt your health.
Researchers have known there's a correlation between poor sleep and obesity.

Now sleep disturbances such as trouble falling asleep or staying asleep can be linked to several cardiovascular and metabolic disorders according to Dr. Michael Grandner, research associate in the Division of Sleep Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

The study also shows that getting too much sleep is just as bad.

Dr. Michael Grandner:

"Those who reported sleep disturbances three nights per week or more were more likely to be obese, more likely to have diabetes, more likely to have a heart attack, more likely to have a stroke, more likely to have coronary artery disease."

The study of data from 130,000 people nationwide also shows that getting too much sleep is just as bad.
