State law allowing ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft to operate in the city of Philadelphia expires at the end of the month... and right now there's no agreement on an extension. Uber and Lyft operate outside Philadelphia under the authority of the Public Utility Commission. The state House is in session next week and the Senate is in the last week of the month. Steve Miskin, spokesman for Republican leaders of the GOP-controlled House, says everyone wants to get something done before the deadline, but there's no deal as of now.

National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell announced Wednesday an initiative intended to increase the safety of the game, specifically by preventing, diagnosing and treating head injuries. As part of the initiative, Goodell said, the league and its 32 club owners will provide $100 million in support of engineering advancements and medical research - in addition to the $100 million previously pledged by the league to medical and neuroscience research. The Play Smart Play Safe initiative also requires hiring a physician to serve as the league’s chief medical officer.

It’s the first thing you see when you open Facebook and it has changed the way we communicate with our "friends" and we discover what’s going on in the world. Facebook News Feed is celebrating its 10th birthday. In a Facebook post, founder Mark Zuckerberg hailed the milestone, calling it "the first real social feed," and a decade later every major social network has some version of one. The average person only sees 10% of what their friends and family share on Facebook, but now you can prioritize certain people or pages that you always want to see at the top of your News Feed. On the flip side, if there are posts that you don’t want to see you can unfollow friends and pages. To customize what you see in your feed, open the app, tap "more" in the bottom right-hand corner, then go to settings and select News Feed preferences.
