City Council Returns, Fake Police Officer Robs Prostitutes, Dani Mathers Snapchat Case

Philadelphia City Council returns to session Thursday after a twelve-week summer break. With the soda tax that dominated the pre-summer session out of the way, members are narrowing their focus. Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell wants more parking in her West Philadelphia district, and wants to call hearings on charter schools and vocational education. Councilwoman Cindy Bass has her eye on supermarkets that try to squeeze out competition by placing restrictive covenants on stores they close so they can't be used by other grocery chains. Bass plans to introduce a bill prohibiting such restrictions.

Police are sharing the first look of a man accused of being a fake police officer. He is accused of robbing two prostitutes inside a King of Prussia hotel. Police released a surveillance photo today. Investigators say the victims arranged a meeting with the suspect online on Saturday. When he arrived at the hotel, the victims say the suspect identified himself as a police officer, working undercover and robbed them at gunpoint.

2015 Playboy Playmate of the Year Dani Mathers faced widespread criticism on social media after she shared a photo of a naked women in a gym locker room on Snapchat in July with the caption “If I can’t unsee this, then you can’t either.” The gym reported the posting to police and revoked her membership. Now, the alleged victim has come forward and the case has been handed over to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office under some form of invasion of privacy. TMZ reports the woman in the post — who is in her 70’s — is willing to testify, but no charges have been filed against Mathers.
