Tens of thousands across the country took to the streets of their communities as part of National Night Out 2016. The event is aimed at bringing neighbors and members of law enforcement together. Locally, festivities were held in Evesham Township and Camden, where officers and neighbors shared stories, and got to know each other.

Philadelphia Police shot and killed a dog on Tuesday night in Point Breeze. Officials were called to the scene at S. 16th Street and Dickinson Street in Point Breeze. Shortly after 8:00 p.m., authorities say a woman was attacked by a dog. They add that a man was also attacked at Dickinson Street and Mole Streets. When police arrived, authorities say that the officer attempted to remove the dog from the man, but was unsuccessful in doing so. That is when the officer opened fire on the animal.

Presidential candidates from the Green, Libertarian and Constitution parties have met the deadline to submit nominating papers to get on the fall ballot in Pennsylvania. The Department of State said Tuesday it received the paperwork from the Greens' Jill Stein, the Libertarians' Carla Howell and the Constitution Party’s Darrell Castle. The only third-party candidate to receive more than 1 percent of the general election vote in Pennsylvania in the last four presidential races was Ralph Nader, who reached 2.1 percent as a Green candidate in 2000. Carla Howell is acting as a stand-in who will step aside for former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.
