A Coatesville man was arrested and charged after police say he threw a large rock at the windshield of a police car intentionally. Authorities say he followed that up by attacking the officer driving the vehicle with the rock. The incident took place on Monday around 1:50 p.m. Officials say Officer Jared Davis was on patrol in his marked vehicle on the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway. Authorities say that is where Eric Watson, 29, threw a large rock at the car, shattering the windshield. Officer Davis got out of the vehicle, and that is when police say Watson tried to strike him in the head with the rock. Officials say Watson resisted arrest until back-up arrived, taking him to the ground. Authorities say one of the officers suffered a broken sternum during the altercation. Watson was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest and related crimes.

With the large parties and events coming to town for the Democratic National Convention next week, top hunger-fighting organizations have developed a new app for party hosts and restaurants to donate extra food. The app, called Food Connect, matches anyone with an excess of food with the pantries and shelters in and around the Philadelphia area. It was timed to launch with the DNC, so restaurants and large party hosts can reduce wasting meals. The Food Connect app can be downloaded on iTunes or on an Android device.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a potential serial predator. The suspect is wanted for a series of assaults on women. The most recent attack turned deadly. Philadelphia Police are on the hunt for a man they believe murdered one woman and beat and sexually assaulted at least two to three others in Kensington, dating back to April. Police believe that on Saturday night, a man on a black and blue mountain bike, met the victim at Cumberland and Jasper and shortly after, brutally attacked her. Investigators recovered a knife and a brick as possible murder weapons. They say the victim was known in the area to be a prostitute, something the suspect apparently targets. Police said there were more than 10 surveillance cameras in that area. They say they reviewed the video and they say for women in Kensington, until the suspect is off the streets, be alert.
