The state House has given preliminary approval to legislation that would expand gambling in Pennsylvania, including legalization of Internet gaming… but without a controversial proposal to allow video gaming terminals in taverns. The House Wednesday considered amendments to a bill that would legalize and regulate daily fantasy sports wagering. That amendment was defeated after lengthy debate. Then with no debate, the House approved another amendment that would legalize Internet gaming, and would allow for slots play at airports and off-track betting locations.

New Jersey officials announced that a state trooper was injured following a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday night. The incident took place around 7:40 p.m. in Buena, Atlantic County. The New Jersey State Police say the trooper sustained a lower leg injury after being T-boned by another car at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Route 54. The trooper was taken to Vineland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car that hit the trooper does not appear to be injured according to officials.

If you still need to book a hotel room in Center City when the Democratic National Convention is in town next month. First, good luck and second, if there are any left be prepared to dig deep into your pocket. Each Center City hotel reserved 85 percent of their rooms to the DNC and it’s delegates. With the remainder of the rooms during convention open to the public. Ed Grose, Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association said even though available rooms in Center City are nearly gone, there are plenty of rooms available in other parts of the five county area.

Weather

Thunderstorms. High 76 in Center City.
