Trump and Biden Attend Penn Graduation, Homeless Hotspots Plan, Captain America Tops Box Office

They may be on opposite sides of the aisle, but Sunday, two political powerhouses came together to cheer on the Class of 2016. Vice President Joe Biden and Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump attended the College of Arts and Sciences graduation ceremony at the University of Pennsylvania. Trump took a break from the campaign trail to see daughter, Tiffany, graduate with a degree in Sociology. Vice President Biden and wife, Jill, were there to see granddaughter Naomi, graduate with a degree in International Relations.

Philadelphia plans to launch a new approach to fighting homelessness, with a focus on what city officials are calling “hotspots,” in Center City. Outreach workers will be deployed in places where there are high concentrations of homeless people, at “peak times:” the morning and evening rush and lunchtime. The outreach workers will wear bright orange shirts that say “Call Homeless Outreach.” The new procedures are being implemented just in time for the summer tourist season, and just ahead of the Democratic National Convention when thousands of visitors from all over the country will be spending time in and around Center City.

Captain America: Civil War followed up its blockbuster opening weekend a week ago with another strong showing on the summer movie season’s second weekend. The fantasy sequel earned an estimated $73-million for a second straight first-place finish at the box office.
That put it well ahead of the runner-up, the holdover, The Jungle Book, which took in a total of $18-million. In third place was the debuting suspense thriller, Money Monster, with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. It earned $15-million on its initial weekend. And fourth was the weekend’s other new mainstream release, The Darkness, the horror thriller starring Kevin Bacon, which took in a modest $5-million.
